Fancy Doing Something Different This New Year’s Eve?

Updated: Jan 10, 2019

How do you like to spend your New Year’s Eve? Singing, dancing, fireworks, fine dining with a twist, or a murder mystery in a Georgian prison? Nottingham really has all the bases covered.

Here we’ve rounded up our favourite options. Which do you fancy?

Enjoy fireworks in Nottingham this New Year's Eve as one of the things to do

Fireworks and festive cheer (Old Market Square)

If you’re in Old Market Square at midnight you can watch the New Year come in with a bang! At the stroke of midnight a huge fireworks display will light up the sky, no doubt to an equally as big chorus of cheers.

As part of the huge street party you’ll be able to enjoy food and drink from the Winter Wonderland, while listening to the best tunes from 2018. You can find out more details, including how to book some special extras, here.

Bamalamasingsong (Nottingham city Southbank Bar)

This infamous Nottingham night out presented by “I’m Not From London” is a firm favourite with people far and wide. A live band plays the songs, while the crowd provides the vocals.

The feeling you get from singing in union with everyone around you is completely uplifting and with the world-famous Doodle Crew DJ’s providing the music before and after, you’re guaranteed to start the New Year in the best of moods.

Not being able to sing isn’t a problem, as you’ll drown each other’s voices out. You’ll feel as free as when you sing in the shower!

Tickets are £15 in advance and £20 on the door. You can pick them up from the venue or here.

Champagne, cocktails and crime (National Justice Museum)

If you’re searching for an ending to the year that will really set it apart, then how about a murder mystery evening in Nottingham’s historic court rooms and county gaol?

Step back in time to the 1920’s and join an interactive murder mystery where you get to see this historic site after dark.

Tickets are £24.95 per person and include two cocktails. Visit the museum website for more details.

New Year’s Eve at Memsaab

If you’d like a more refined evening with exquisite food in elegant surrounds, why not book a table at Memsaab. Enjoy a five course meal at one of Nottingham’s finest Indian restaurants, while enjoying the sounds of a live saxophonist.

It’s the highest fine dining restaurant in the city centre according to Trip Advisor, with consistently raving reviews, so you’re in for a great time.

With different times available you could even start here, and move on to somewhere else for the conclusion of your night! Click here to find out more.
